In the midst of Warwickshire’s rural fields changes have recently been proposed which have caused outcry and distress across a wide area. This is a plan for a huge spread of solar arrays which will cover four square miles, and extend in all over 30 square miles of countryside in Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

Arrow Valley Solar, the developer, is owned by Island Green Power, part of the Macquarie Group, the Australian  conglomerate. Its proposal is a 500MW installed capacity solar and battery storage project, covering land equivalent to roughly 2,500 football pitches.

There would be solar arrays standing in fields, security fencing around them, buildings and rows of containers full of batteries, and underground cables linking them all and running northwards up to the National Grid substation at Feckenham in Worcestershire.

The villagers affected, some almost surrounded, are from north to north Weethley, Abbots Morton, Dunnington, Wixford, Broom, Dunnington, Salford Priors, Marlcliff, Cleeve Prior and South Littleton. The 5-mile underground cable that would carry the electricity generated to the large National Grid substation east of Feckenham would be close to Inkberrow, Holberrow Green, and Morton Underhill.
CPRE Warwickshire opposes this huge project and the loss of countryside in the Arrow and Avon basin. We are supporting the Opposition group now formed,. NO to Arrow Valley Solar’. THere has been coverage both in the local press, the Stratford Herald and Evesham Journal), and in national media, notably the Daily Mail and GB News.

Public consultations will be this autumn and CPRE Warwickshire and Worcestershire Branches will be supprting the residents campaign againsaty this hugely harmful development.

A full rerport on the Arrow Valley Solar plan appeared in the Stratford Herald on 3 September 2026.
