Visit to Rousham House 28 June 2022

On a very fine day in late June nearly 40 CPRE members travelled to Rousham House to enjoy the fine house and wonderful gardens of this quite exceptional property.

The  House, owned by the same family for 300 years, was fascinating. Although a large residence it was clearly very liveable and welcoming.

The garden was laid out by William Kent and is regarded as one of the most important in England.

The weather was very kind to us and we were able to enjoy our picnics in the grounds before exploring the area, which included a church and numerous smaller enclosures with temples and ponds which were truly delightful.

Thanks to Myles and the Cotterell-Dormer family for arranging and allowing such a pleasant day.
